Week 1 Recap
In the first game of the 2009 Puerto Rico High School Football League, the Carolina Blitzz beat the Wolfpack 22-6 on Saturday at Ciudad Deportiva Roberto Clemente in Carolina. The Blitzz used a dominating defense to score a safety and take an 8-0 lead at halftime. In the second half the Wolfpack scored, but it was too little too late as the Blitzz scored twice in the half to have a comfortable lead.
On Saturday as well, in the first game of the doubleheader at Barbosa Park the Commonwealth HS Comets beat the University Gardens Dolphins 14-6 in a muddy field defensive battle.

The final game of this opening week of football, the defending champions Antilles High School Pirated dominated the Parque Central Blue Wave 37-0.
Juan Clemente led the offensive attack with 134 yds on the ground and 2 TD's. One on a 20-yd run and one on a 60-yd electrifying punt return. John Torres also had a great day for the Pirates with a 27 TD reception from Freshman Ignacio Rodriguez and a 70-yd pick-six. Rodriguez also connected with Rafael Centeno on a 20-yd strike. Jean Paul Rios finished out the scoring with a 1-yd plunge.
Defensively, Carlos Flores, Roberto Martinez and Luis Rotger kept the Blue Wave offense from mustering any kind of continuity throughout the night.
